Update

Well thanks partly to the elderly woman in a wheelchair who coughed on me at Auckland airport, I caught the flu which kept me out of action for a week after arriving back in London.
^
Then we moved flats - yay. So this is random statement time.
^
As the phone line has not been connected as promised at home, I neither have phone nor broadband (don't even have decent TV reception), and there is a ton of work to catchup with there has beeen little blogging, but I will be up to speed shortly.
^
It's sunny here - something I didn't notice much in New Zealand.
^
I did notice parents with big families who fly in business class, what's that about?
^
The Thai lounge at Hong Kong Airport doesn't clean the showers after each customer uses it, and the non-Thai food is inedible.
^
anyway, it is nice to ignore politics. Few things are more insipid than people trying to appeal to the greatest numbers of people by deliberately avoiding believing in anything, and avoiding insulting them.
^
Two men died being run over by a tube train as they were attempting to graffiti a building - how sad! They are exactly the type of people Barking needs rid of, the ones that help make it look run down.
^
The UK is still obsessed with "climate change", which has replaced the Anglican Church as the leading UK religion.

It must be very easy for you to come out with sweeping statements whilst sat behind your computer... Easy to forget that these two men had a family. I happen to be a member of that family. The pain being suffered by his family at the moment is excruciating, have some respect. No one denies what they were doing wasn't stupid but who can honestly say they haven't done something stupid in their lives... sometimes we get away with it and sometimes we don't.

Well I acknowledge it is sad for you and the families, but they aren't responsible, and let's get three things clear:

1. Stupid? It's bloody Darwinian - it is so Darwinian that it encourages other stupid boys (the use of the word "men" implies some sense of responsibility) to risk their lives trying to vandalise something other people own and pay for. I am sick of stupid people damaging other people's property and killing others. Why respect them? Respect isn't a right, it is earnt.

2. It wasn't just stupid, it was criminal vandalism. I guess you don't give a damn about the unsightly blight this causes, the cost that other people have to pay for and have to clean up. No. They weren't thinking of you either playing on the tube like little boys. Maybe zero tolerance on this might help.

3. Where is the respect for the staff who encounter this? Do you have any idea what train drivers and underground staff go through when people are killed and they can do nothing about it? No - neither did these two.

It is part of the insipid culture today that people demand respect for those who dish out none - maybe the day you wake up with your own fence or house having been tagged overnight by some little twat who wants "respect" might make you think. Hopefully their deaths might make others think before despoiling other people's property and views.
