Even the official Xinhua News Agency of the People's Republic of China, which has provided cursory coverage, has the story, in English and Chinese.

TVNZ had it. Radio NZ had it.
TV3 joins the useless pile, for not having it, but that's an entertainment channel.
So the story is in NZ, you use foreign websites for foreign news.

It happened in the early hours.
Maybe only the printers were in.
They can't even cover NZ news promptly - witness their slow response to the Christchurch earthquake - let alone international events.

No wonder when talking to Kiwis at work I used to be amazed at just how uninformed they were. Unless somebody uses the internet to follow the news (and a wide variety of sources) they have no idea what's happening.
And no idea how uninformed they really are.
